部分の訳をどのようにしてつなげるかということを意識しています。

まず、it was ~ that …という形を見たら、形式主語であれ強調構文であれ、that以下から訳すとうまくいきます。「継続する劇作家の気質から生じる違いを探したのはむしろ細部に対してであった」が前半の訳です。asは「〜のように」だと取り、the storyを主語、differedを動詞だと考えます。「ギリシャの劇場では、オイディプスの物語が、アイスキュロスによって取り扱われようが、ソフォクレスによって取り扱われようが、エウリピデスによって取り扱われようが、およそ同じであったのであるが、それでも劇作家ごとに著しく異なったのである」となります。最後のas well asは何と何が並列になっているのかを考えます。in the detailsとin the psychological approachです。「心理学的な接近方法と同様に細部において」を先ほどの訳の「劇作家ごとに」の直後に挿入します。
